Privacy
Last updated 4 October 2026. Applies to the Rerun Android app (listed on Google Play as "Rerun: What Did I Do Today?") and this website.
Rerun is developed and published by Hashdash Studios. In this policy, "the developer" means Hashdash Studios.
The short version: Rerun collects nothing. Everything you put in it stays on your phone, unless you back it up to a folder you choose or share it yourself. There is no account, no server and no analytics. The one exception is Google Play's billing library, which handles tips; see Network below.
What the app stores, and where
- Your notes are kept in a database in Rerun's private storage on the phone. Other apps cannot read it, and Android protects it with the phone's own encryption and screen lock. Rerun adds no encryption of its own.
- Photos and recordings you take in Rerun are kept in the same private storage, not in your gallery.
- Things you share into Rerun from another app are copied. The original stays where it was.
What leaves your phone
Your entries, photos and recordings leave only when you send them:
- Backups go to a folder you pick, which may be on the phone or in a cloud service such as Google Drive. That service's own privacy policy then applies to the backup file. Backups are not encrypted, so anyone who can open that folder can read them.
- Sharing out of Rerun sends whatever you choose to the app you choose.
Network
Rerun's own code makes no network calls. The app includes Google Play's billing library so you can leave a tip, and that library can connect to Google by itself: it has been seen sending logs to a Google logging service. It is not given your entries. It is also why Android lists an Internet permission for Rerun.
Permissions
- Microphone, only when you record sound.
- Storage, on older versions of Android only, to read files you share in or pick.
Photos are taken with your phone's own camera app, so Rerun does not need camera permission.
App lock, and older backup passwords
You can lock the app with your phone's own screen lock. Rerun has no PIN or password of its own. Unlocking goes through Android's standard prompt, so Rerun never sees your fingerprint, face, PIN or pattern; Android tells it only whether you unlocked.
Older versions of Rerun could lock backups with a password. If you set one, Rerun keeps it on your phone only so it can open those older backups for you, never puts it into a backup, and forgets it if you use Full Reset. Nobody, including the developer, can recover a forgotten backup password for you.
Purchases
Tips are handled entirely by Google Play. Rerun never sees your payment details. Google Play tells the app only that a tip was made. The app keeps a count of your tips and the date of the last one, on your phone and in your backups, to say thank you.
Crash reports
Rerun contains no crash-reporting or analytics code. If you have allowed your phone to share usage and diagnostics with Google, Google Play may pass anonymous crash reports to the developer. You control that in your phone's settings, not in Rerun.
This website
This site sets no cookies, runs no scripts and loads nothing from other companies. The host may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses, for security.
Children
Rerun is not directed at children and collects no information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
