How to use Rerun
Rerun has three things at the bottom of the screen: Today, Add and Find. That is the whole app.
Today
Today shows the last three days, with every entry shown in full. Each entry says when it happened in plain words, like "This afternoon ยท about 3 hours ago". For anything older, use Find.
Add something
- Tap Add.
- Type what happened. To add a picture, tap Take photo. To say it instead, or to record what someone else is saying, tap Record sound, then tap Stop when you've finished. You don't have to hold anything down.
- Tap Save.
The date and time at the top of the sheet is when the entry will be filed. If it happened earlier, tap it and choose the right day and time.
If you swipe the sheet away or press Back, what you wrote is kept, not lost. To throw it away, tap Discard.
Change, share or delete an entry
Tap Open on the entry (in Find, tap the entry first to see all of it). It opens in the same sheet you wrote it in. Change the words or the time and tap Save, or use Share or Delete at the bottom. Delete asks first, and you can still undo it straight afterwards.
Find
Find has everything you have ever put in Rerun.
- Type a word you remember from the entry. Words like yesterday, last week, wednesday or morning work too.
- To see only photos, type photos. For recordings, type sound. You can add more, like photos last week. Entries that mention the word show up too.
- If you put a tag like #meds in an entry, typing #meds in Find shows only the entries with that tag. Typing meds shows every entry that says it.
- To go to a day, tap the calendar at the end of the search box and pick the day. Days with entries are marked. To see everything again, tap the Showing bar under the search box.
Without opening the app
- The Add widget on your home screen opens a place to write straight away.
- The Today widget shows how many entries today has and the latest one, with buttons to write, take a photo or record sound.
- Share into Rerun from any other app: text, links, photos and audio.
- Hold the Rerun icon for Add, Photo, Record sound and Find.
To add a widget, touch and hold an empty part of your home screen, tap Widgets, and find Rerun. When you save from any of these, you go back to what you were doing.
Back up your entries
Rerun keeps your entries only on this phone. If the phone is lost or broken, they go with it, unless you back them up.
- Open Settings: the gear at the top of Today.
- Tap Backup folder and choose a folder. A folder in Google Drive keeps a copy off the phone.
Once a folder is chosen, Rerun backs up once a night while the phone is charging. Back up now does it straight away.
A backup is as private as the folder it's in. There is no backup password to remember, or to forget.

Keep it private
- Lock Rerun with your phone's screen lock in Settings. Rerun then opens with your fingerprint, face or phone PIN, so there is nothing new to remember. While the lock is on, Rerun can't be screenshotted or screen-recorded. With it off, you can take a screenshot to show someone what happened.
Easier to read
Rerun follows your phone's text size. For light or dark, go to Settings > Appearance and choose Match phone, Light or Dark.
